Commissioner Alana Matheson is a legally qualified expert in workplace relations who was appointed as a Commissioner of the Fair Work Commission in 2021. Commissioner Matheson is currently the Commission’s
Deputy Practice Leader for Enterprise Agreements. Her experience in workplace relations spans almost 20 years across a diverse range of environments, including peak representative bodies, construction, social services and consulting.
Prior to her commencement with the Fair Work Commission, Commissioner Matheson played a leading role in negotiations at the 100th year of the International Labour Organization, a tripartite UN agency bringing together governments, employers, and workers around the world to develop labour standards and policies. Her representation was in relation to the making of an historic international treaty aimed at preventing and addressing workplace violence and harassment and involving consideration of the gendered dimensions of violence and harassment.
